I am having a great time with a lovely group of ladies at the Vaughan Park Retreat Centre at Long Bay.
Most of the group have started making the centre block for “Hartfield”, lots of tiny hexagons, all beautifully “fussy cut”.
Two of the ladies started “Longbourne” and have made great progress.
Here is Cindy’s work in purples, greens and taupes.
This is Anna’s vase coming together.
To top it all off, this is the view from the classroom.
I have finished these hexagons tonight.
I enjoyed visiting One Tree Hill and Cornwall Park in Auckland. It was a gorgeous sunny day with blue skies and grass so green.
Also a visit to Acacia Cottage, built in 1841 and now erected in the park.
Beautiful anenomies in bloom.
Then on to Long Bay for our retreat.

Lots of gorgeous “Spikes and Specks” blocks were finished in my class for Patchwork Passion in Auckland.
This one is by Shirley.
What a wonderful group of ladies. Thank you for your company and all the laughs.
The class was held in the historic Onehunga Community House, originally the school built in 1901..
I had a quick visit to the gorgeous shop at Patchwork Passion, lots of goodies there.
Looking forward to some time off tomorrow before we head off to retreat.

A big thank you to Rachel Maw for having me to teach for her lovely shop, Annie’s Country Quilt Store in Ashburton.
Also, thank you to all the lovely ladies who attended my two day workshop. I taught paper foundation piecing techniques and machine appliqué skills to make my “Spikes and Specks” quilt design.
Here are some of the completed blocks from today.
Here is the group photo of the class with everyone holding up their work. Go girls!
Lots of different colour combinations achieved.
Heading to Auckland tomorrow for more teaching fun.
