Fairytale castles

We drove south from Augsburg and the scenery and architecture changed to an alpine landscape.

Our first glimpse of Neuschwanstein Castle from the road.  It was very cloudy and wet.

Here are some more pictures of this fairytale castle,  built by King Ludwig II in the 1860s in gothic style.

We toured the inside of the castle but unfortunately no photos were allowed.

This is the only photo I managed to get to prove I was here.  Lol.

The views.

We also visited Hohenschwangau Castle.  We arrived by horse drawn carriage.

Also amazing inside, with 80 magnificent paintings painted directly on every wall inside the castle.

Beautiful fountains outside.

A wonderful but exhausting day!
